This market research report addresses the global market for capacitors and the cost of goods sold for each individual type of capacitor- ceramic, aluminum, tantalum and plastic film. The critical scientific principal surrounding capacitor technology is that capacitance is equivalent to the physical size, or available surface area of the finished component. This in turn make the raw materials consumed in the production of capacitors the most expensive portion of “Cost of Goods Sold,” and the area where the application of best practices can have the greatest impact on operating margins. The Methodology employed here is as follows- various secondary research reports conducted by Paumanok Publications, Inc. have been analyzed for indications of cost of goods sold by manufacturer over time. We also know the market shares for each vendor, and therefore can draw conclusions for the industry as a whole with respect to cost of goods sold and operating margin. Also, we use market share data by dielectric, and cross-reference that with the financial documentation of each vendor, to narrow down cost structure by capacitor type/Dielectric. We also employ primary intelligence sources, persons inside the industry who have direct knowledge of costs associated with each dielectric to determine if our analysis is correct. Remember, as each of the primary sources has pointed out- cost of goods sold in the capacitor industry will differ from manufacturer based upon the number of pieces the manufacturer can produce and the physical size, or type of capacitor being produced. This study offers key financial data related to Cost of Sales, Operating Margins and Total Revenues; with Costs of Sales broken down into raw materials, fixed costs, variable overhead, variable labor costs and other associated costs.
