DC Link Capacitor Markets In Hybrid Electric Vehicles: 2006-2015 ISBN # 1-893211-87-8 (2006).
This presentation was made in July 2006 to the automotive electronic subassemblies industry trying to understand the value of energy storage devices consumed in hybrid electric vehicles. This presentation focuses on the DC link energy storage capacitor that is mounted on the DC motor assembly of all HEV models (Toyota, Honda, Ford, etc.,) and is a fundamental requirement of hybrid fuel/electric designs going back to the diesel electric foundations of the modern Prius® and Civic® advanced hybrid systems. This presentation focuses on the 750 Vdc 3000 µF capacitance solution that must fit into a 5 inch by 5 inch protective case. Panasonic solves this using 10 of their power film capacitors in both series and parallel to achieve the voltage and capacitance while EPCOS and Arcotronics Italia SpA both have introduced flatpacks that better utilize the complete surface area available for motor assembly. Regardless, such capacitance and voltage requires many thick layers of metallized polypropylene film, which bodes well for companies like Toray, the largest supplier of OPP film to the capacitor industry in the world. Forecasts are conservative, but detailed out to 2015 based upon the Toyota model for market penetration (which Ford and PSA also use); and support a $1.6 billion capacitor market emerging in the powertrain by 2015. 60 Pages, Slides, PDF Format, $750.00 USD. ISBN # 1-893211-87-8 (2006).

Hybrid Electric Vehicle Production Forecasts: 2006-2015 ISBN # 1-893211-54-1 (2006)
This 10 page report forecasts global hybrid electric vehicle production by manufacturer and platform. It employs the Toyota penetration formula as a percentage of total platform output by car manufacturer after five years from prototype development to full market production. This formula is carried out for all major HEV producers in Japan, the USA, Europe, and Korea as of July 2006 and makes forecasts to 2015 based upon announcements of vendors in the space. An excellent forecasting tool for HEV unit output by manufacturer, by year from 2006 to 2015.ISBN # 1-893211-54-1 (2006)
